Francesca Richer specializes in the design
of visual books, magazines, logos, and promotions for an international
clientele of photographers, artists, product designers, book packagers
and publishers. Early design collaborations include books on the
work of Larry Fink, Robert Capa, Diane Arbus, Mimmo Jodice, Bruce
Gilden, Gilles Peress, and Sylvia Plachy, and on projects for the
International Center of Photography, the Aperture Foundation, Rizzoli
/ Universe Publishing, Scalo, and DoubeTake.
Francesca was the founding Design Director
of Gotham magazine, and has art directed Interview magazine, Mamm
magazine, and Tricycle: The Buddhist Review. Her art and photography
book designs have won the European Book Publishers’ Award and are
included in lists of favorites in Pictures of the Year, Photo District
News, the Los Angeles Times, and the New York Times.
In 2002, the studio launched
its own book packaging division, to conceptually develop, edit,
and design a series of contemporary art and photography books. The
first of these, appropriately, is a collection of the "first" works of more than 300 artists,
to be published in 2003.
